The Royal Albert Hall hosts Sir Antonio Pappano’s inaugural Prom as chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. The performance centres around Britten’s War Requiem, a powerful and poignant piece that serves as an emblem of hope in the aftermath of mass destruction. Joining Sir Antonio Pappano for this highly relevant and anticipated concert are esteemed soloists Natalya Romaniw, Allan Clayton, and Will Liverman.
The London Symphony Chorus, BBC Symphony Chorus, and Tiffin’ Boy’s Choir also lend their talents, with the young singers delivering a haunting and memorable performance of the child choral section. This Prom should be an evening of thoughtful and impactful music, presented by Petroc Trelawny.
BBC Proms: Britten’s War Requiem airs on Sunday 18 August 2024 at 8:00 PM on BBC Four.
