Sam Smith takes centre stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London for a special concert as part of the BBC Proms 2024 season. This performance marks Smith’s only live UK concert this year and celebrates a decade since the release of their chart-topping debut album.
The soulful singer joins forces with the BBC Concert Orchestra to present an unforgettable night of music. Classic songs such as “Stay with Me” and “I’m Not the Only One” are given the full orchestral treatment, with lush arrangements that fill the iconic concert hall.
Smith also treats the audience to a rendition of their Oscar-winning Bond theme, “Writing’s on the Wall,” and delivers performances of recent hits like “Unholy,” “How Do You Sleep?” and “Dancing with a Stranger.” These contemporary songs are transformed with unique arrangements for orchestra, backing singers, and a 16-piece choir, the LJ Singers.
The evening also includes a special performance of the timeless classic “Hushabye Mountain” and a beautiful interpretation of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.”
BBC Proms: Sam Smith at the Proms airs on BBC Two on Saturday, 24 August 2024, at 8:25 pm.
