BBC Three Orders Mobeen Azhar-Led Prison Corruption Doc Inspired by Viral Clip

BBC Three Logo

BBC Three has commissioned a new two-part documentary fronted by Mobeen Azhar, digging into corruption, contraband, and misconduct inside the UK prison system.

Titled Coerced or Corrupted: Inside Prisons (working title), the series picks up in the aftermath of a viral prison sex tape. Azhar uses the incident as an entry point to investigate deeper systemic issues across the sector.

Produced by Forest, the project builds on the team’s previous work in high-conflict spaces. Azhar’s brief is clear: move past the headlines and track how banned items are entering facilities, where the guard-inmate boundaries are breaking down, and who’s benefiting from the chaos.

The commission comes from Clare Sillery and Nasfim Haque, aligning with BBC Three’s push into harder-edged factual. There’s no airdate yet, but it’s locked for BBC Three and iPlayer.
