Beacon 23 Cancelled: No Third Season for Sci-Fi Thriller

Beacon 23

The science fiction thriller series Beacon 23 has reached its conclusion, with MGM+ confirming the show’s cancellation. The second season, which ended on May 26th, comprised eight episodes, leaving audiences with unresolved plotlines.

The series, set in a distant future, introduced viewers to a unique world in the far reaches of the Milky Way. It featured Lena Headey as Aster Calyx, a government agent, and Stephan James as Halan Kai Nelson, an ex-military man. The story revolves around their unexpected confinement in a remote “lighthouse” known as a Beacon, one of many such structures guiding intergalactic travellers.

These Beacons are managed by a combination of highly skilled humans and specialised Artificial Intelligence. In the latest season, the Beacon transforms into a makeshift prison, and the arrival of a character named Aleph, along with a mysterious Artifact, adds further complexity to the narrative.

The second season of Beacon 23 was initially scheduled to air on Spectrum Originals but moved to MGM+ when the former streaming service ceased operations.
