Chefs Michael Voltaggio and Christian Petroni join forces with chefs Lanny Chin and Wendy Zeng in their attempt to take on culinary icon Bobby Flay in the upcoming episode of Beat Bobby Flay. This episode, titled “Tame the Lion’s Mane,” airing on Food Network  Thursday April 18, promises a tense culinary showdown as the chefs tackle a tricky star ingredient.

Beat Bobby Flay is a cooking competition show that pits various chefs against the renowned Bobby Flay. In each episode, two guest judges, often a celebrity chef and a friend of Flay, introduce two contestants who engage in a 20-minute cook-off using an ingredient chosen by Flay. The judges then select the winner of this round, who will face Flay in the second round. The winning contestant chooses the dish for both themselves and Flay to cook in the final 45-minute round. The ultimate winner is determined through a blind taste test by three judges.

The show borrows its presentation style from boxing matches, with a bell rung to indicate the start of rounds and playful trash-talking among Flay, the competing chefs, and guest judges. The judges actively engage with the chefs during both rounds, offering insights into their strategies and occasionally attempting to distract Flay in a light-hearted manner.
