Detective Jim Bergerac will return to Jersey. U has given the green light to a second season of its “Bergerac” reboot, following the show’s impressive debut. The series, starring Damien Molony as the titular detective, became a hit for the streaming platform.
Pulling in 1.8 million consolidated viewers, “Bergerac” secured its spot as the second most-watched program ever on U&DRAMA. This first season ditched the original show’s episodic format, opting for a single, overarching mystery. Clearly, that gamble paid off.
Molony will, of course, be back behind the wheel of Bergerac’s Triumph Roadster, along with Zoë Wanamaker as Charlie Hungerford and Robert Gilbert as Barney Crozier. The second season will follow another intricate murder case, this time connected to a Jersey wedding. Expect cryptic clues, island intrigue, and Bergerac’s signature blend of charm and deduction.
For those unfamiliar with the original, it aired for nine seasons on the BBC from 1981 to 1991, starring John Nettles. This reboot aims to capture the spirit of the original while offering a fresh take on the character and the picturesque Jersey setting, a location bolstered by the show’s support from Visit Jersey. Series creator Toby Whithouse will again lead the writing team, joined by Ashley Sanders, Emilie Robson, and Faebian Averies.
“Bergerac” season two will air sometime in 2026.
