Shiver me timbers, is that a ghost? Looks like Humphrey Goodman’s idyllic existence in “Beyond Paradise” is about to get a dose of the supernatural. In the show’s upcoming Christmas special, Bob encounters the spectral form of his departed wife, Linda, kicking off a holiday mystery that even Scrooge would find chilling.

Humphrey, naturally, approaches his first potential haunting with the enthusiasm of a kid on Christmas morning. Esther, ever the pragmatist, remains unconvinced, probably muttering something about faulty wiring or gas leaks. This fundamental difference in worldview is, of course, what makes their partnership so entertaining. One wants to believe in Christmas miracles and ghostly apparitions; the other would rather just have a mince pie and get on with it.

As the pair investigates Bob’s claims, expect plenty of festive cheer mixed with genuine chills. Will Humphrey finally get the chance to prove his theories about the paranormal, or will Esther debunk the whole thing as an elaborate holiday prank gone wrong? Either way, it’s a safe bet that this Christmas special will offer a welcome escape from the usual holiday programming, blending humor, mystery, and just a touch of the macabre. Tune in to BBC One on Friday, December 27th at 9:00 PM to find out if Bob’s visions are real or simply a figment of his Christmas pudding-induced imagination.
