Crime drama Beyond Paradise begins filming its third series, presenting more intriguing puzzles, heartfelt stories, and stunning locations. This BBC iPlayer and BBC One production, co-commissioned with BritBox International, continues to be one of the UK’s most-watched dramas, with a recent win at the TV Choice Awards for Best New Drama.
The series welcomes back Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, Sally Bretton as Martha Lloyd, Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, and the rest of the cast. The team will tackle a range of challenging cases, from river mysteries to historic feuds and modern dangers.
Executive Producer Tim Key of Red Planet Pictures teases a series filled with “mysteries, surprises, challenges, and heart.” Key also hints at unexpected twists, including the return of Jamie Bamber’s character Archie Hughes, who will present a challenge for Humphrey and Martha’s relationship.
The series also explores the characters’ personal journeys: Martha and Humphrey face new fostering hurdles, while Esther encounters surprises. Anne grapples with health scares and painful memories, and Kelby embarks on a path of self-discovery.
Beyond Paradise, created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan, is a successful international collaboration, with series one and two reaching audiences in 135 territories worldwide. The show is a co-commission between the BBC and BritBox International, produced by Red Planet Pictures, part of the Asacha Media Group recently acquired by Fremantle.
