“The Bidding Room,” hosted by the ever-suave Nigel Havers, sets up shop in Edinburgh this Monday, welcoming a new array of sellers eager to part with their intriguing possessions. From vintage treasures to quirky collectables, the show offers a glimpse into the world of buying and selling, with a touch of competitive bidding thrown in for good measure.
This episode features an eclectic mix of items, starting with Faith’s unusual offering – a jet hair dryer straight from a prop store. Will its space-age design spark a bidding frenzy among the dealers? Meanwhile, former circus performer Stephen brings in a collection of circus history books, hoping to find a buyer who appreciates their unique historical value. And then there’s David, who’s brought along a pink plastic tea set from the 1940s, an object that’s sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia.
But the offerings don’t stop there. Graham presents a stylish A.H. MacIntosh teak unit, hoping to impress the dealers with its mid-century modern aesthetic. Dawn, meanwhile, offers up a game of malachite solitaire, a souvenir from her travels with the RAF. With dealers Estelle, Ian, Mac, Moses, and Lucy ready to pounce on a good deal, the competition is fierce. Auctioneer Simon Bower provides context and insights into the items on offer, as well as the all-important valuations.
Tune in to BBC One on Monday, April 7th at 3:45 PM to see who walks away with the best bargains.
