Events so far
The first season of Billy the Kid, which premiered on April 24, 2022, offered a compelling origin story for the infamous outlaw.
The narrative began in 1871, with 12-year-old Billy McCarty and his Irish immigrant family leaving New York in search of a better life. Tragedy struck during their journey, setting the tone for Billy’s future.
In Santa Fe, Billy’s mother, Kathleen, married a man who brought more harm than happiness. The family then relocated to Silver City, where Billy encountered a man called Alias, killing him in self-defense and sparking a life on the run.
Billy’s path led him to Mexico, where he joined forces with the 7 Rivers Gang, including his old friend Jesse Evans and a new companion, Pat Garrett. Their camp outside Lincoln, New Mexico, served the interests of Major Murphy, who was engaged in a commercial rivalry with Englishman John Tunstall.
As the series progressed, Billy found himself torn between his loyalties to Murphy and Tunstall, ultimately choosing to side with Tunstall as the Lincoln County War loomed. The first season concluded with rising tensions and Billy’s decision to change sides, setting the stage for the explosive events of season two.
