BBC Four brings us a new German crime drama this Saturday, “The Black Forest Murders,” starting with the episode “A Village on the Hunt.” The series, set in the small village of Buchingen, plunges viewers into a tense missing-person case that swiftly escalates into a potential homicide investigation.
When a young woman disappears, the local police and villagers launch a frantic search. Seventeen hours later, with no sign of the missing woman, DCI Barbara Kramer and her colleague, Thomas Riedle, arrive on the scene. They find a chaotic search effort and a worrying lack of preserved evidence, creating an immediate uphill battle for the investigators. The situation becomes even more dire when a body is discovered 72 hours later.
“The Black Forest Murders” airs this Saturday, May 31st at 9:00 PM on BBC Four, with English subtitles for those not fluent in German. If you’re in search of a suspenseful new international crime drama, this looks like a good place to start.
