“Black Pop: Celebrating the Power of Black Culture” Premieres June 19 on E!
In this series, produced by E! in association with NBC News Studios and Unanimous Media, we examine how the impact of Black culture in fields such as music, television, sports, and film is more than just a fad. The two-night special event “Black Pop: Celebrating the Power of Black Culture,” executive produced by Stephen Curry and narrated by La La Anthony, will premiere on June 19 at 8PM ET/PT.
From the gospel roots of Mahalia Jackson to the Motown sound, the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, the undeniable impact of Black culture on fashion, television pioneers like Diahann Carroll and Oprah Winfrey, sporting greats like Sugar Ray Leonard and Laila Ali, the development of Black films, and the pivotal talents that paved the way will all be honored at this special event.
