“Blindspotting” Season 2 Will Premiere This April on Starz
Starz has announced that the second season of its half-hour comedy series “Blindspotting” will premiere with a double episode on Friday, April 14. Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs co-created the series, and Casal stars in it alongside Jasmine Cephas Jones and Helen Hunt.
On Friday, April 14, at 9:00 PM ET/PT, STARZ in the United States and Canada will air the season two debut of “Blindspotting,” followed by episode two at 9:30 PM ET/PT. Fridays at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) will be the regular airtime for all subsequent episodes. All STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms in the United States and Canada will have access to the new episodes as soon as they become available.
Ashley (Jones) was on the cusp of a middle-class life in Oakland until Miles (Casal), her partner of 12 years and the father of their son Sean (Atticus Woodward), was suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic life when she was forced to move in with Miles’s mother, Rainey (Hunt), and sister, Trish (Jaylen Barron).
The 2021 premiere was well received, and the series is still Certified Fresh @ 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It depicts the humorous antics Ashley and her family engage into as she tries to make sense of her life amid the Bay Area’s frantic bustle while maintaining a lighthearted and entertaining tone.
Ashley is flipping out as she tries to raise their son on her own in the second season, which begins nine months after the prison wedding that ended season one. She’s about to snap and she’s directing her rage towards everybody and everyone in her vicinity.
Miles is getting used to prison life and is excited about the next family visitation weekend at San Quentin. While Rainey tries to make Ashley and Sean feel at home and keep in touch with her son in prison, Ashley ultimately controls the situation.
Even though Jacque (April Absynth), Trish’s best friend and business colleague, is dating Cuddie (Lance Holloway), Trish is experiencing jealousy difficulties. Janelle (Candace Nicholas-LipPMan) has started to mourn her old life in Bali and is grown tired of Ashley’s (Kate Walsh) continual need for help. Earl (Benjamin Turner), himself recently released from jail for inadvertently violating his probation, has left the home he shared with Nancy (Margo Hall) and is attempting to reconnect with his own family and his past.
In addition to co-creating the series, Casal and Diggs both serve as executive producers and writers with Casal also serving as showrunner and director of four episodes.
Jess Wu Calder and Keith Calder of Snoot Entertainment (One Night In Miami, Anomalisa), Emily Gerson Saines, Ken Lee, and Tim Palen also serve as executive producers, with Wu Calder also directing two episodes in season two.
Senior Vice President of Original Programming Kathryn Tyus-Adair is the executive overseeing “Blindspotting” on behalf of STARZ. Claire Wendlandt is the executive overseeing the series on behalf of Lionsgate.
