Blue Lights Series 2 Premiere, 15 April 2024, BBC One

Blue Lights

The highly anticipated second season of Blue Lights premieres on BBC One Monday 15 April at 9.00 pm, with all six episodes available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6 am.

The series follows rookie police officers in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and is created and written by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson. The first season, which aired in March 2023, received rave reviews and has been commissioned for a third and fourth season. The show has been praised for its authentic portrayal of policing in a tense and divided community, with Declan Lawn commenting that the series is “a special kind of privilege” as it is set in the city where they live.

Season 2 picks up a year after the events of the first season, with the death of PC Gerry Cliff and the downfall of the McIntyre crime family leaving a vacuum that rival gangs are competing to fill. Constable Shane Bradley is drafted in to help, but his motivations are unclear. Tommy Foster becomes dangerously seduced by the world of intelligence policing, while Grace Ellis struggles with her son’s absence and growing feelings for fellow officer Stevie Neil. As a young loyalist threatens to take over the city, the officers face a violent and devastating gangland feud.
