The Belchers are back, and so is Bob’s questionable past. Season 14 of Bob’s Burgers kicks off with “Boogie Days,” an episode that sees Louise, the family’s resident chaos agent, dragging her reluctant father into a father-daughter boogie board competition.

While the premise sounds like standard Belcher family fare – a dash of Louise’s scheming, a pinch of Bob’s grumbling, and a whole lot of potential for disaster – there’s a twist. This competition dredges up something from Bob’s past. Now we know what you’re thinking: Just how scandalous can a middle-aged burger chef’s history be? That’s a question “Boogie Days” sets out to answer and will hopefully provide some laughs along the way.

While the specifics of Bob’s boogie board-related baggage remain under wraps, it’s safe to say it’s nothing too earth-shattering. This is Bob’s Burgers, not Succession. Still, the episode’s title hints at some embarrassing photos or long-buried rivalries coming to the surface – fodder for the kind of awkward humor the show does so well.

Of course, no Bob’s Burgers premiere would be complete without the core voice cast. H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, Dan Mintz, and Larry Murphy return to lend their vocal talents to the Belchers and the colorful cast of supporting characters that populate their world. Will Teddy be roped into building a ridiculous boogie board contraption? Will Gene compose a boogie-themed musical masterpiece? Will Linda wear a truly outrageous beach outfit? These are the important questions “Boogie Days” is expected to answer.
