On Tuesday’s The Bold and the Beautiful, Carter Walton found himself at a crossroads, forced to choose between his career and his burgeoning love for Hope Logan. Ridge Forrester, in a move that surprised no one familiar with his penchant for dramatic pronouncements, presented Carter with an ultimatum: ditch Hope or say goodbye to Forrester Creations. Carter, never one to shy away from a grand romantic gesture (or questionable decision-making), chose Hope, solidifying his unemployment status and putting a serious strain on his friendship with Ridge.
Ridge’s rationale, delivered with his usual self-assured bluster, centered on the idea that Hope had somehow “changed” Carter, transforming him into a person Ridge no longer recognized. While convenient for Ridge’s narrative, this conveniently sidesteps Carter’s established history of impulsive romantic entanglements. Brooke, unsurprisingly, took umbrage at Ridge’s accusations of manipulation aimed at Hope, defending her daughter’s character with maternal ferocity. Meanwhile, Carter, basking in the glow of his romantic sacrifice, assured Hope that she was his sole focus. Hope, though touched by Carter’s gesture, also expressed some sensible concern about his impulsive career suicide. But Carter, ever the romantic, remained resolute in his decision.
Elsewhere in Los Angeles, the ongoing saga of Steffy Forrester’s relentless matchmaking continued. Steffy, still convinced that her parents, Ridge and Taylor, belong together, pressed Taylor about the lack of wedding rings on either of their fingers. Taylor, displaying a newfound (and somewhat unconvincing) sense of self-sufficiency, insisted that she had moved on and was not pining for Ridge. However, in a classic soap opera twist, she predicted Brooke would ultimately self-sabotage her relationship with Ridge. This, of course, sets the stage for the inevitable return to the Brooke-Ridge-Taylor love triangle.
The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays at 1:30 PM on CBS.
