Max is bringing back Bookie. Sebastian Maniscalco’s comedy about a beleaguered Los Angeles bookmaker returns Tuesday, December 12. The eight-episode second season will air weekly, wrapping up — unless there are unforeseen scratches, of course — on January 30.
Created by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, approximately 800 other sitcoms) and Nick Bakay (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, also many sitcoms), Bookie will continue chronicling the barely-controlled chaos surrounding Maniscalco’s character, a bookie trying to balance the demands of his eccentric clientele with the shifting sands of the legalized sports gambling industry. Check out the trailer below.
Returning cast members include Omar J. Dorsey, Vanessa Ferlito, Jorge Garcia, Andrea Anders, Maxim Swinton, and Rob Corddry. And because Chuck Lorre sitcoms exist in a vortex of familiar faces, look for guest appearances by Ray Romano, Charlie Sheen, Zach Braff, and Brad Garrett. Maybe they’ll play quirky gamblers, perhaps versions of themselves, or possibly just guys named “Ray,” “Charlie,” “Zach,” and “Brad.” It doesn’t really matter.
Bookie season two premieres Tuesday, December 12 at 9/8c on Max.
Bookie is a Warner Bros. Television production for Max. Executive producers include Chuck Lorre, Nick Bakay, Sebastian Maniscalco, Judi Marmel, and Andy Tennant.
