Eagle Eye Drama, the ITV Studios-backed production company known for hits like “Professor T” and “Hotel Portofino,” has appointed Carolina Giammetta as its new Director of Drama. This isn’t just a new hire; it’s a strategic move signaling Eagle Eye’s aggressive growth ambitions.
Giammetta, fresh off directing and creating the UKTV series “Bookish,” starring Mark Gatiss, isn’t new to the world of successful drama. Her recent credits include directing Season 2 of “Suspect” for Channel 4 and “Before We Die,” also for Channel 4. She’s proven to have the golden touch.
The move comes at a time when Eagle Eye Drama can do no wrong. The company has been a hit machine, all of their dramas receiving recommissions. Now, Giammetta will not only direct and develop new projects but also serve as an executive producer, strengthening Eagle Eye’s already formidable production slate.
“Walter [Iuzzolino] and Jo are incredibly passionate about telling stories and making Television and their energy is infectious,” Giammetta said. “I’m very excited to see what we are going to create next.”
That passion is clearly paying off. With a 100% re-commission rate on their new dramas, Eagle Eye is experiencing rapid expansion. Jo McGrath, Chief Creative Officer of Eagle Eye Drama, praised Giammetta’s collaborative spirit, visual flair, and strong storytelling instincts. “Carolina is a brilliant team player,” McGrath stated, adding that she’s “great fun to work with.”
The company, launched in 2018, has had hit, after hit, after hit. From the massive success of “The Couple Next Door” (Channel 4’s biggest ever scripted launch) to the new crime drama “Patience,” starring Laura Fraser and Ella Maisy Purvis, Eagle Eye continues to deliver.
The addition of Giammetta to the leadership team seems poised to accelerate this trend, indicating a company fiercely committed to expanding.
