Britain’s Got Talent Series 17 Premiere Saturday 20 April on ITV1

Britain’s Got Talent will return for its 17th series on Saturday, April 20th, it has been announced. The popular talent show, which airs on ITV1, hosted by Ant and Dec, will see the judging panel of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and newest judge Bruno Tonioli resume their roles.

The show, which usually airs in the spring, had to be postponed in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated lockdown restrictions. The pandemic disrupted the usual format, as large groups of performers and audiences could not be safely accommodated.

The 15th series, which aired in 2022, was won by comedian and musician Jon Courtenay, with sign-language choir Sign Along With Us and comedian Steve Royle placing second and third, respectively.

The 16th series, which aired in 2023, was won by comedian Viggo Venn. Dancer Lilliana Clifton and magician Cillian O’Connor placed second and third, respectively.

Venn’s victory was met with a mixed reaction, with some viewers expressing disappointment and questioning the legitimacy of his win. Despite the controversy, Venn took home the £250,000 grand prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.
