BritBox April 2024 Highlights; Sister Boniface Mysteries, Hope Street & More

Sister Boniface Mysteries

BritBox has announced its schedule for April 2024, with new and returning series set to premiere. Among the highlights are three key BritBox Originals: Beyond Paradise, Hope Street, and Sister Boniface Mysteries.

Following its successful debut in February 2023, the Death in Paradise spin-off, Beyond Paradise, returns for its second season. Set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott in Devon, the series follows DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) as he solves a string of quaint crimes, while balancing work with starting a family. The new season sees Goodman and his fiancée Martha (Sally Bretton) embark on the journey of becoming foster parents, all while tackling cases that are linked to the local surroundings. With episodes airing weekly on Fridays at 8 p.m. GMT, the series promises cosy crimes and heartwarming storylines.

After a brief hiatus, the Northern Irish crime drama Hope Street is back with a third season of 15 episodes. The extended run delves into the lives of the Port Devine police department, both professionally and personally, as they face new challenging cases. The series is filmed in the seaside town of Donaghadee in County Down, adding to its authentic appeal.

The beloved murder mystery series Sister Boniface Mysteries returns for its third cape-filled season on 24 April. Lorna Watson reprises her role as the Vespa-driving, crime-solving Catholic nun, Sister Boniface. This season, Sister Boniface and her fellow travellers find themselves stranded in a train due to a frozen coupling snap. As a precious jewel is stolen and a passenger is discovered dead, Sister Boniface employs her exceptional detection skills to unravel the mystery.

In other programming news, the long-running comedy quiz show QI is set to premiere a new season, hosted by Sandi Toksvig, on 1 April. The series features a panel of comedians who compete to provide the most interesting answers to obscure questions, regardless of their correctness.

Holloway: Women Behind Bars explores the history of HM Prison Holloway and its notable female inmates. Trigger Point, produced by Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty), revolves around a bomb disposal operative who faces a series of explosive threats during a summer terror campaign in London. No Offence, a gritty Manchester-based police procedural, returns with a third season.

BritBox will also debut a host of new titles this month, including the second season of classic comedy drama series Lovejoy, the prison drama Time, and the true crime drama series Catch Me a Killer.
