BritBox Australia is doubling down on its British TV roots, launching a major revamp in June 2025 that overhauls content, pricing, and user experience. The streamer is adding exclusive premieres, rolling out three new curated channels, and increasing subscription rates as it leans into a premium positioning.
The upgrade brings a wave of new and returning UK hits to the platform. June premieres include Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, Outrageous, Fear, and Death Valley, while returning staples such as Shetland Season 9, The Bay Season 5, and Beyond Paradise Season 3 bolster the drama slate.
BritBox is also getting into the linear streaming game with three newly programmed channels: BBC First, BBC Entertain, and BBC Select. BBC First will focus on prestige UK drama including Beyond Paradise, Call the Midwife, The Bay, and Towards Zero. BBC Entertain blends comedy, lifestyle, and returning favorites like Richard Osman’s House of Games, Shakespeare & Hathaway, QI, and 8 Out of 10 Cats. BBC Select is the doco hub, pulling in titles fronted by David Attenborough, Brian Cox, and Michael Mosley, including Frozen Planet, Life Below Zero, and Africa.
More returning series are on deck for later in 2025, including The Cleaner, Professor T, and Karen Pirie. The Diane Morgan-led Mandy also joins the lineup in June.
As part of the update, download limits are being expanded—but so are prices. The monthly fee jumps from $9.99 to $13.99, and the annual plan increases from $99.99 to $139.99. A 7-day free trial remains available for new signups.
Moira Hogan, BritBox Australia’s EVP of International Markets and GM, positioned the move as a strategic reset aimed at making the service the go-to curator for premium British content in Australia.
