BritBox Original Cary Grant Drama “Archie” Premieres December 7

Archie,” a drama series about the formative years of Hollywood superstar Cary Grant, will be coming to BritBox on December 7th, 2023. The series will focus on Archibald Alexander Leach’s childhood, his career in Bristol, and his journey to Hollywood, where he became known as Cary Grant. The official trailer for the series has been released.

The series is written by Jeff Pope, a BAFTA Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated screenwriter. It is executive produced by Jennifer Grant, Cary Grant’s daughter, and Dyan Cannon, his ex-wife. The cast includes Jason Isaacs, Laura Aikman, Harriet Walter, Dainton Anderson, Calam Lynch, Oaklee Pendergast, and Kara Tointon.

“Archie” will be released on BritBox in North America, with episodes 1 and 2 premiering on December 7th, followed by episodes 3 and 4 on December 14th.

However, few people knew the man behind the name, Archie Leach, and the challenges he faced on his journey to stardom. The drama will explore Leach’s troubled childhood and the significant lie that shaped his life. It aims to capture the struggles, fears, loves, and losses of Archie Leach, a man who was very different from the character he created to save himself. The drama stars Jason Isaacs and is executive produced by Jennifer Grant, Cary Grant’s daughter, and Dyan Cannon, his ex-wife.
