PBS’s “Bugs That Rule the World” continues its exploration of the insect kingdom this Wednesday with “Eat or Be Eaten.” The focus is squarely on the survival tactics of some of nature’s most stealthy and ruthless hunters – the tiny but deadly predators that inhabit our planet.
From the calculated stillness of praying mantises to the underwater ambushes of aquatic insects, this episode uses cutting-edge technology to examine the hunting prowess of bugs. Viewers will witness the lightning-fast strikes of dragonflies and other predators and gain insight into the evolutionary adaptations that make them such successful hunters.
The series makes use of the expertise of scientists along with the very latest and most advanced technology to reveal what nature has equipped these insects to do and explore the secrets of their behavior. The series aims to remind viewers that even these most familiar of creatures are little understood. Filming took place in numerous locations including remote jungles and deserts.
“Eat or Be Eaten” airs Wednesday, May 21 at 10:00 PM ET on PBS.
