Ever wondered what it takes to build a multi-million-pound “glass castle”? Channel 4’s “Building Britain’s Superhomes” returns this Wednesday, taking a look into the extravagant world of luxury home construction. The series follows maverick property developer Guy Phoenix and his team over two years as they craft opulent residences for the super-rich.
In this first episode, we find Guy scoping out his next grand project: a rural plot in Nottinghamshire with the potential to become his latest architectural masterpiece. But that’s not the only property on his mind. He’s also set his sights on the house next door to his own home, with plans to transform it into a – what else? – a “mini” superhome.
Narrated by Phillip Glenister, the series provides an inside look at the scale and ambition of these high-end builds. From demolition to design, we see the initial stages of Guy’s vision taking shape. Expect to see the existing house on the rural plot meet the wrecking ball, as well as the beginning of Guy’s more modest (by his standards) superhome project next door.
