Former “Freaks and Geeks” star Linda Cardellini is in talks to play Velma in Warner Bros.’ live-action “Scooby Doo,” according to Variety. The actress is also in negotiations to star opposite Tom Green and Jason Lee in “Stealing Stanford” for Revolution Studios and Imagine Entertainment.

Filming for the feature is slated to start in February.
“Stanford,” written by Martin Hynes (“The Big Split” ) and Peter Tolan (“Analyze This” ), is about a man (Lee) who has to resort to crime when he agrees to pay for his niece’s (Cardellini) first year at Stanford. The film is set to start shooting around late March or early April. Cardellini’s representatives are trying to work out her schedule so she can work on both projects.
Cardellini can next be seen in the movie “Sins of the Father,” opposite Andy Garcia. Her other film credits include “Good Burger” and “Dead Man on Campus.” She is currently filming “Legally Blond,” starring Reese Witherspoon.
