A fulsome team of 32 swimmers will represent Canada, including past world championship medallists Javier Acevedo, Eric Hedlin, Yuri Kisil, Maggie Mac Neil, Kylie Masse, Penny Oleksiak, Sydney Pickrem, Taylor Ruck, Kayla Sanchez and Rebecca Smith. The fourteen world championship rookies representing Canada include Olympians Katrina Bellio, Tessa Cieplucha, Ruslan Gaziev, Finlay Knox, and Summer McIntosh. CBC Sports spoke with Canada’s most decorated Olympian Penny Oleksiak about what she is hoping to achieve at the FINA World Championships.
Budapest previously hosted the FINA World Championships in 2017, and the 2022 edition of the FINA World Championships is the first of four being held over the next four years.
