After two years of virtual celebrations and reflection, CBC will offer audiences a full lineup of Canada Day programming across all platforms, showcasing voices, music and perspectives from communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

Hosted by Vassy Kapelos with reporting from senior parliamentary reporters Hannah Thibedeau and Travis Dhanraj, this CBC News special is a chance to reconnect after a two year hiatus from in-person Canada Day celebrations. Airing live from LeBreton Flats in Ottawa, Canada Day 2022 will recognize Canada’s remarkable diversity and showcase its talented artists, featuring speeches from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor General Mary Simon and a moment of Indigenous reflection. From the stage in Ottawa, Anne-Marie Withenshaw and Shaun Majumder will join a lineup of talented acts, including: Boogat, Chantal Kreviazuk, DJ Shub, Gurdeep Pandher, Josiane, Kellie Loder, Lisa LeBlanc, Riit, Sarahmée, Sebastian Gaskin and Tenille Townes.
CANADA DAY EVENING SPECIAL

Isabelle Racicot and Ali Hassan host the evening special live from LeBreton Flats in Ottawa with appearances by Ariane Moffatt, Charlotte Cardin, Cindy Bédard, Gurdeep Pandher, Johnny Reid, Neon Dreams Riit, Salebarbes, Samian, Sarahmée, Sebastian Gaskin, Tenille Arts, Walk Off The Earth and William Prince, sharing the paths they have followed to reach their Canadian audiences and communicate their songs, art and culture. The special will journey from Canada’s Capital Region to Nova Scotia, Quebec, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Toyota Searchlight is CBC Music’s annual hunt for Canada’s top music talent. Hosted by Grant Lawrence, this one hour Canada Day special showcases the top song entries from this year’s contest, starting on the East coast, and heading West and North to hear the vibrant music being made in Canada today.
THE GREAT CANADIAN GOOSE SHOW

A lighthearted celebration of the iconic Canadian goose – they are simultaneously: an important food source for hunters, urban pests, beloved wildlife, and picnic ruiners. This special explores stories that reflect the country’s relationships with these antagonistic, but emblematic birds.

Host Rich Terfry will be remixing and re-imagining iconic Canadian songs in celebration of Canada Day. Hear songs from Drake, Jann Arden, Bryan Adams, Shad and many more like they have never been heard before.

Many people living in Canada have family in other countries who they depend on and who depend on them, this special explores Canada’s connections to the rest of the world. Hosts Jennifer Chen and Idil Mussa take a look at how these families found other ways to connect while the pandemic kept them apart, and what it has been like for some of them to finally reunite in person.
