CBS is adding fresh fuel to its 2025-26 season, ordering three new original series spanning crime drama, workplace comedy, and quirky mystery. The network has greenlit “CIA,” an “FBI” spinoff, “DMV,” a single-camera comedy, and “Einstein,” a drama based on a German format.

“CIA” pairs the charisma of Tom Ellis as a rule-bending CIA officer with a by-the-book FBI agent. Together, they tackle national security threats unfolding within the United States. Created and executive produced by Dick Wolf and David Hudgins, the series promises the same high-stakes action and procedural elements that define the “FBI” franchise.

Shifting gears from espionage to everyday bureaucracy, “DMV” finds humor in the often-frustrating world of the Department of Motor Vehicles. Starring Tim Meadows, the comedy centers on the quirky personalities and everyday situations encountered by the DMV staff and its customers. Written by Dana Klein, the series is based on a short story by Katherine Heiny and also stars Harriet Dyer, Molly Kearney, Alex Tarrant, Tony Cavalero and Gigi Zumbado.

Finally, “Einstein,” penned by Andy Breckman, introduces Matthew Gray Gubler as the brilliant but eccentric great-grandson of Albert Einstein. He uses his inherited intellect to help a local detective crack baffling cases, bringing a unique twist to the crime-solving genre. Rosa Salazar joins Gubler in this adaptation of a German format.
