CBS Mornings, April 16, 2024, “Salman Rushdie, Rachel Eliza Griffiths”

CBS Mornings Key Art

Gayle King, co-host of CBS Mornings, will be joined by Salman Rushdie, the acclaimed author of “Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder,” and his wife, poet and novelist Rachel Eliza Griffiths. The interview will air on CBS on Tuesday, April 16.

Rushdie, a Booker Prize winner, will be speaking out for the first time about the traumatic events of August 12, 2022, when he was attacked onstage and stabbed repeatedly. The incident left him with serious injuries, including the loss of vision in one eye and damage to his left hand. The attacker, Hadi Matar, has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and attempted murder.

In his memoir, “Knife,” Rushdie describes the book as “a necessary [work] for [him] to write: a way to take charge of what happened, and to answer violence with art.” It is a gripping, intimate, and ultimately life-affirming meditation on life, loss, love, art, and finding the strength to carry on.
