Wednesday’s “CBS Mornings” is shaping up to be a curious mix. First up, we’ve got some genuine rock royalty, The Grateful Dead, fresh off their Kennedy Center Honors, stopping by. One can only speculate what wisdom they’ll impart to Gayle, Tony, and Nate, but it’s bound to be more interesting than the usual morning show fluff. Maybe they’ll reveal the secret to staying relevant for over half a century, or perhaps just reminisce about tie-dye and questionable backstage snacks.
Then, shifting gears dramatically, we’re getting a dose of blue blur with Ben Schwartz and James Marsden, the voices and sometime on-screen counterparts of Sonic the Hedgehog. They’re here to promote the third installment in the surprisingly successful video game movie franchise. Will they discuss the challenges of voicing an animated icon? Or perhaps the existential angst of a CGI hedgehog grappling with super-speed and the weight of saving the world? Probably not, but hey, a viewer can dream.
Switching gears yet again to something slightly more grounded, “CBS Mornings” is also featuring Aziza Hasan and Andrea Hodos from NewGround, a Muslim-Jewish partnership focused on social justice in the Middle East and North Africa.
And for those still scrambling for last-minute holiday gifts, Amazon Books editorial director Sarah Gelman will be presenting book recommendations. Hopefully, she’ll steer viewers towards something more substantial than the latest celebrity tell-all or diet fad book.
“CBS Mornings” airs weekdays from 7:00 to 9:00 AM on CBS.
