So, another presidential inauguration rolls around. This time, CBS Mornings is planting its flag firmly in Washington, D.C. for a live broadcast on Monday, January 20, 2025. Sure, inaugurations are usually more spectacle than substance, but hey, who doesn’t love a good parade? Or at least the chance to critique the fashion choices of political figures. The event is expected to be weather effected and will be taking place indoors for the time in a long time.
For those who find pomp and circumstance less than thrilling, CBS is trying to spice things up. Opera singer Christopher Macchio, who’s actually performing at the inauguration (yes, really, opera), will be stopping by the CBS Mornings set. Perhaps he’ll offer some vocal exercises to soothe the nerves of those politically anxious.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an inauguration without the obligatory political analysis. Republican strategist Terry Sullivan and CBS News contributor Joel Payne, a Democratic strategist, will be on hand to dissect the upcoming day’s events. One can only hope their commentary is more insightful than the usual cable news shouting match.
Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson will be holding down the fort, attempting to maintain a sense of normalcy amidst the orchestrated chaos.
CBS Mornings airs weekdays from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM on CBS.
