CBS Mornings welcomes former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, and author Rachel Eliza Griffiths to the show.
Nancy Pelosi, a prominent figure in American politics, joins the show to discuss her recently published memoir, The Art of Power: My Story as America’s First Woman Speaker of the House. Pelosi, a member of the Democratic Party, served as the 52nd speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023. She was the first woman to hold this position and the first to lead a major political party in either chamber of Congress.
Rachel Eliza Griffiths, a multimedia artist, poet, and novelist, joins the show to discuss her novel, Promise, published in 2023 by Random House. Griffiths is also the author of five collections of poems, including Seeing the Body (2020), which combines poetry and photography to explore themes of memory, Black womanhood, and the American landscape. This work was nominated for the 2021 NAACP Image Award in Poetry and won the 2021 Hurston/Wright Foundation Legacy Award in Poetry and the 2021 Paterson Poetry Prize.
