On Monday, June 10, CBS Mornings welcomes Questlove, the six-time Grammy Award-winning musician, Academy Award-winning filmmaker, drummer, DJ, producer, director, and author, as well as Jonathan Groff, the star of the Broadway revival “Merrily We Roll Along.”
Questlove will discuss his upcoming book, “Hip-Hop Is History,” which will be released on June 11, 2024. In this book, Questlove reflects on the first half-century of hip-hop, an art form that emerged in the 1970s and has since become a cultural force. He traces the creative and cultural forces that shaped hip-hop, highlighting both influential gems and chart-topping hits. Questlove is a co-founder of the Roots and the musical director for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where the Roots serve as the house band.
Jonathan Groff, known for his roles in “Hamilton” and “Spring Awakening,” joins the show as part of the “Road to the Tonys” series. He will discuss his current role in the Broadway revival “Merrily We Roll Along,” which is receiving critical acclaim and is nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The show is an oral history of Broadway, featuring a stellar cast, including Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez.
