On Thursday, June 13, CBS Mornings welcomes rock band R.E.M. Oscar-winning actress and Tony Award nominee Ariana DeBose and author Glynnis MacNicol as guests.

R.E.M., the influential American alternative rock band, joins the show to discuss their musical journey and impact on the genre. Formed in 1980 in Athens, Georgia, the band consists of lead singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and former drummer Bill Berry.

R.E.M. is known for blending various musical influences, including folk rock, indie rock, and punk rock, to create a unique sound. Their most commercially successful albums, “Out of Time” and “Automatic for the People,” solidified their place in the vanguard of alternative rock.

Ariana DeBose, known for her roles in “West Side Story,” “The Prom,” and “Schmigadoon!” is set to host the 77th Annual Tony Awards, marking her third time emceeing the prestigious ceremony. She received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Variety Special for her hosting duties at the 76th Annual Tony Awards.

Glynnis MacNicol, an author and journalist, will be on the show to discuss her memoir, “I’m Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself: One Woman’s Pursuit of Pleasure in Paris.” MacNicol’s book explores her journey of self-discovery and radical pleasure during a solo trip to Paris, challenging societal expectations and the notion that women should conform to certain age-related norms.
