The bunting’s been packed away, the speeches are done, and the pundits are clearing their throats. But before you succumb to inauguration fatigue, CBS News is offering a primetime special to wrap up the day’s festivities – or, depending on your perspective, the day’s developments.

“Inauguration in America,” airing Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10:00 PM EST, aims to provide context and analysis to the swearing-in ceremonies, the transfer of power, and the general state of the union. Anchored by the familiar faces of John Dickerson, Maurice DuBois, and Margaret Brennan, the report will feature contributions from CBS News journalists scattered across the capital.

What can viewers expect? Well, if it’s anything like past inauguration specials, there will be a healthy dose of historical perspective, a smattering of interviews with politicians and “ordinary Americans,” and plenty of speculation about the new administration’s agenda. Will they focus on the hopes and dreams of a nation yearning for unity? Or will it be a deep dive into the political machinations and inevitable power struggles that lie ahead? Knowing CBS, probably a bit of both.
