On Saturday, August 3, 2024, CBS Saturday Morning welcomes American psychedelic soul band Black Pumas, who will perform at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater. The band, led by singer/songwriter Eric Burton and guitarist/producer Adrian Quesada, received a Grammy Award nomination in 2020 for Best New Artist. The duo released their self-titled debut album in 2019, which received acclaim from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and NPR, among others.
The show also features a segment on the history of the French baguette. While long, thin breads have been around for centuries, they were only referred to as baguettes from 1920 onwards, deriving from the Latin ‘baculum’, meaning ‘staff’ or ‘stick’. The baguette became increasingly popular in the 1920s due to a law forbidding bakers from working before 4 am, making it the only bread that could be prepared in time for breakfast.
CBS Saturday Morning airs Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. on CBS.
