The famous faces of music, comedy, drama, sport, and showbusiness are rolling up their sleeves and stepping into the kitchen as Celebrity MasterChef returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Over the next six weeks, 20 celebrities will put their culinary skills to the test, aiming to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace and become the 2024 champion.
The first week of heats kicks off with five well-known names: TV and radio presenter Craig Doyle, reality star and influencer Charlotte Crosby, TV and radio presenter Edith Bowman, pop star Ian ‘H’ Watkins, and TV and radio presenter Snoochie Shy.
The celebrities face a range of challenging tasks, starting with ‘Under the Cloche,’ where they must create a dish that showcases a hidden ingredient. They also prepare dinner party dishes and showcase their personal styles, hoping to impress the judges and avoid elimination.
Each celebrity has their own unique reasons for joining the competition. Craig Doyle, a self-described cooking enthusiast, wanted to test his skills, while Charlotte Crosby aims to expand her therapeutic home cooking beyond stir-fries and Mexican eggs. Edith Bowman, who grew up in a family-run hotel, seeks to move beyond her comfort zone of pub-grub, and Ian ‘H’ Watkins aims to develop his cooking skills beyond the air fryer and microwave. Snoochie Shy, meanwhile, hopes to improve her presentation skills and move beyond her signature Thai red prawn curry.
Celebrity MasterChef begins on BBC One from Tuesday 13 August at 8:00 pm.
