Things are about to get even more chaotic in the Forest of Dean as Channel 4’s “The Change” continues its second season. Following Linda’s mushroom-spiking escapade at the Eel Café, the fallout is both hilarious and thought-provoking. The lines between activism, rebellion, and plain old mischief become increasingly blurred as the women’s strike gains momentum.
Convinced that witchcraft is afoot, the Verderer, played with pompous authority by Jim Howick, believes Linda and the other women are poisoning the men. This paranoia fuels his determination to stop the strike, setting up a direct conflict with Linda, played with dry wit and quiet determination by Bridget Christie.
Meanwhile, the strike itself takes on a new dimension. Janet (Amanda Lawrence) finds a creative way to fund the cause, while Pig Man (Jerome Flynn) takes charge of household training for the striking women. Amidst the escalating tension, Agnes (Susan Lynch) and Theresa (Laura Checkley) invite Linda to their annual Silent Supper, a poignant ceremony held in memory of the women who lost their lives during the witch hunts. Catch “The Change” on Channel 4, Tuesday, April 8th at 10:00 PM.
