Channel 4 is setting sail into the world of high-end cruising with Secrets of Supercruisers (working title), an eight-part docuseries tracking life aboard two of Holland America Line’s premium vessels as they navigate the Caribbean, South America, North Africa and the Canaries.
Produced by Crackit TV and slated for broadcast later this summer on Channel 4, the hourlong episodes follow the MS Rotterdam and MS Nieuw Statendam—each carrying more than 2,600 guests—as crews execute precision hospitality and logistics across three itineraries. Onboard opulence meets below-deck coordination, with the series diving into everything from engine room operations to curated excursions, including horseback riding, rum tastings, and a traditional toboggan descent in Madeira.
The order comes via Deborah Dunnett and Jo Street for Channel 4. Executive producers are Elaine Hackett and Jon Connerty for Crackit TV, with Paula Fasht serving as series producer. Orange Smarty is handling international sales.
With luxury travel rebounding and cruise interest ticking upward post-pandemic, the series positions Channel 4 to tap into aspirational escapism while doubling down on its premium lifestyle factual slate.
Karen Farndell of Holland America Line said the series captures a landmark return to UK-departing cruises for the brand—its first in a decade—adding another business-facing hook for the travel trade audience.
