Channel 4 Give Jamie’s £1 Wonders Full Series Order

After a successful one -off episode, Channel 4 has given Jamie’s £1 Wonders a full series order. The 6×60 minutes will air this spring.

With a consolidated 1.8 million viewers and 10.5% of individuals, up +81% on the slot average, Jamie’s £1 Wonders was Jamie Oliver’s best primetime share show since 2011.

In Jamie’s £1 Wonders, Jamie will present viewers with meal ideas that can be prepared for less than £1 per serving, along with helpful hints that can be adapted to use whatever items they have on hand or reflect their current lifestyle.

From a nourishing chicken pie to spicy vegetable enchiladas and even his take on a roast supper, Jamie will show you how to feed your family well without breaking the bank in his new 6-part series. Jamie will host a series of cooking demonstrations in which he will invite guest chefs to demonstrate their skills and share money-saving techniques and recipes.

Each episode will include a recipe from a different chef, prepared in their own house, and featuring cuisines as diverse as Sri Lankan, Cypriot, Italian, and Indian, as well as vegan and very low-budget dishes in response to the escalating prices of meat and dairy.

Jamie has also thought about the techniques employed in the kitchen to determine the most eco-friendly approaches to preparing each dish. He will create a great chilli con carne in the microwave from scratch, cook a pizza in a pan without turning on the oven, and use the oven only once to cook several meals, all while offering a wide variety of recipes that employ common items in creative ways to reduce expenses and maximise flavour.

Channel 4 Commissioning Editor Tim Hancock said, “After the success of the one-off, we received messages from viewers grateful for Jamie’s £1 recipes. Over the years, Jamie has helped the nation navigate the challenges we’ve faced – from cooking in lockdown to making school meals healthier – so we are thrilled he is back to provide more help and inspiration when there is such a squeeze on household budgets.”

Zoȅ Collins, Managing Director, Jamie Oliver Media Group, said, “There is nothing that makes us more happy than knowing that we’re being useful and the response to the one-off gave us a real sense of purpose. We are so pleased that C4 agreed with us that a series of inspiring, lower cost recipes could be both entertaining and helpful. This series is Jamie and his brilliant team, doing what they do best.”
