Australia’s favourite holiday critics are back for an eighth season of Travel Guides, ready to share their unfiltered opinions on destinations near and far. The new season begins Monday, April 21, on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Here’s the Lowdown: Season 8 is set to feature a wide range of travel experiences. The guides will journey from the busy streets of New York City to the scenic beauty of Kakadu in the Northern Territory. Other destinations include Thailand, the Swiss Alps, Japan, and Tahiti. Returning to rate the accommodation, activities, and food are the Fren family, Matt and Brett, Kevin and Janetta, Kev, Dorian and Teng, and Karly and Bri.
What This Means Now: Viewers can expect the usual mix of honest, often humorous, assessments from the returning cast. The format continues to show how different people experience the same holiday, offering varied viewpoints on everything from luxury resorts to budget travel. The season opener takes the cast to New York City.
The Bigger Picture: Narrated by comedian Denise Scott, the program highlights diverse global cultures and landscapes through a distinctly Australian viewpoint. Last season saw the Cook Islands receive a unanimous perfect score – a first for the show. It is unknown if any of the ten trips in this new season, produced by Nine, will achieve similar universal approval from the opinionated travellers. Travel Guides Season 8 starts April 21 at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
