Created by Lena Waithe and produced by 20th Television, The Chi continues to be a critical tentpole for SHOWTIME’s scripted slate, now under the unified Paramount+ with SHOWTIME banner. The Season 7 opener pulled in 2 million viewers across platforms, setting a new benchmark for the franchise and locking its status as one of the brand’s top-performing originals.
New episodes of Season 7 drop every Friday, but only for subscribers to the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan.
The renewal keeps the focus on the women of The Chi, with recent storylines zeroing in on shifting loyalties, fresh rivalries, and personal power grabs within the tight-knit South Side community. Behind the scenes, Justin Hillian and Jewel Coronel continue as co-showrunners and executive producers, alongside Waithe and Common.
Supervising producers Deondray Gossfield and Quincy LeNear Gossfield helmed several episodes this season, adding to the show’s consistent creative backbone as it barrels toward its eighth chapter.
