Chicago Fire 13×06 Recap “Birds of Prey” – Severide & Internal Affairs

Tonight’s Chicago Fire was a whirlwind! “Birds of Prey” started with a feathered fiend harassing Mouch (Christian Stolte) at the firehouse. Seriously, this bird had it out for him! While the rest of the team chuckled, Mouch’s escalating bird battle provided some much-needed comic relief.

Meanwhile, Carver (Jake Lockett) was struggling – big time. His recent breakup with Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and some bad influences led to some seriously questionable choices, impacting his performance at work. Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) noticed and delivered a tough-love ultimatum: shape up or ship out.

The main event, however, centered on Severide (Taylor Kinney). He stumbled upon a ghost gun operation at a storage facility fire scene, sparking a clash with the Illinois State Police, specifically Captain Bishop (guest star Michael Trucco). They were oddly dismissive, almost as if they were hiding something. Severide, being Severide, couldn’t resist digging deeper. He and Pascal (Jimmy Nicholas) found discrepancies, leading them to believe the state police were involved in a cover-up.

Adding to the mystery was a missing witness, Ryan, who vanished from the hospital after the fire. No one seemed to care about his disappearance except Severide. The state police’s lack of interest in Ryan’s whereabouts raised serious red flags.

The tension escalated as Captain Bishop threatened Pascal, leveraging past mistakes from his time in Miami. But here’s the twist: Pascal revealed he’s working with Internal Affairs, and Bishop is their target!

This reveal changes everything! Suddenly, Severide’s investigation takes on a new dimension. He’s now officially entangled in an Internal Affairs operation. While Pascal initially tried to bench Severide for his own safety, he ultimately relented, sharing the whole truth.

Mouch’s bird drama reached a heartwarming conclusion. He realized the bird was just a protective mama whose egg had fallen from the nest. Mouch, in full protective gear, returned the egg, resolving the avian conflict. It was a sweet moment amidst the episode’s heavier themes.

Kidd, dealing with Carver’s downward spiral, had no choice but to bench him. With Violet now dating someone new, Carver has no support system, making his situation even more precarious.

Where does this leave us? Severide is in deep with Internal Affairs. Carver is at rock bottom. And Kidd is left to manage a fractured team. “Birds of Prey” delivered suspense, humor, and some seriously intriguing plot twists. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
