“Chicago Med” is back this Wednesday, and things at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center are about to get messy. “The Invisible Hand” throws a serious staffing crisis at the doctors and nurses, courtesy of a full-blown nurse sick-out, and the impact on patient care is immediate.
Amidst the chaos, Drs. Archer and Frost seem to have lost their focus, if not their sanity. The pair have engaged in a rather inappropriate wager to see who can discharge their patients the fastest. That’s right, folks, patient care has become a game – hopefully a friendly game – but one with the potential for disastrous consequences.
As if a staffing shortage and inter-departmental gambling weren’t enough, Dr. Charles faces a different kind of challenge. He’s harboring some serious suspicions about one of his patients, a hunch that’s clouding his medical judgment and making it difficult to provide effective treatment.
