Let’s just say it’s unlikely to involve a relaxing spa day. While Torres grapples with his history, Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) finds himself undercover, amplifying the pressure to the Intelligence Unit’s already fraught operations. One might wonder if Voight (Jason Beghe) ever considered a career in aromatherapy, given the stress levels he constantly manages.
The central tension in “Contrition” seems to be the balance between Torres’ personal turmoil and the immediate demands of police work. How will his past actions affect his judgment, his partnership with Atwater, and his standing within the unit? Given the show’s history, it’s a safe bet that a few explosions and tense standoffs will be sprinkled into the mix. Let’s hope Torres’ introspection doesn’t happen mid-car chase.
As for Ruzek going undercover, we can expect his typical blend of bravado and questionable decision-making. Will he maintain his cover, or will his impulsiveness jeopardize the operation and, by extension, the safety of the Intelligence Unit? Knowing Ruzek, there’s a good chance his undercover persona will involve a questionable mustache and a truly terrible fake name.
