From Child Prodigies to What Now? Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri Star in New Apple TV+ Comedy

Apple TV+ is adding a fresh twist to the romantic comedy genre with its latest series order, “Prodigies.” Starring Will Sharpe, known for “The White Lotus” and “A Real Pain,” and Ayo Edebiri, of “The Bear” and “After the Hunt” fame, the seven-episode comedy explores the lives of two former child geniuses navigating adulthood and relationships.

Sharpe takes on triple duty, creating, writing, and directing the series. He and Edebiri play Didi and Ren, a couple in their early 30s grappling with the weight of their extraordinary childhoods. As ex-child prodigies, they find themselves questioning if their current lives measure up to their early potential, a relatable dilemma for anyone who’s ever felt the pressure of expectations.

Produced by the Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning SISTER, “Prodigies” aims to turn the traditional romantic comedy narrative on its head. Instead of focusing on the initial sparks and chase, the series examines the complications and challenges of a long-term relationship. It asks the question: what happens after the “happily ever after”?
