“Chopped” adds a dash of romance to its usual culinary pressure cooker in this week’s episode, “Hungry for Love: Blind Date.” Four pairs of singles are set up on blind dates with a twist: they have to cook together. As if first dates weren’t awkward enough, imagine having to create an appetizer, entrée, and dessert with a complete stranger – and with Ted Allen scrutinizing your every move.
The basket ingredients, as usual, are a wild card, guaranteeing some interesting culinary creations (and probably a few disasters). The unpredictability of love is mirrored in the randomness of the ingredients, with at least one round featuring a protein that’s far from a grocery store staple. As the clock ticks down, especially in the dessert round, dreams of culinary glory (and maybe even a second date) could go up in flames.
