Prime Video has locked in a July 13 premiere for The Chosen: Last Supper in Australia, bringing the fifth season of the independent faith-based juggernaut to streaming following its nine-figure global box office run.
The eight-episode season will roll out in staggered batches over three weeks: Episodes 1-2 on July 13, 3-5 on July 20, and 6-8 on July 27—mirroring the theatrical release strategy that helped The Chosen rack up more than US$110 million at the global box office earlier this year.
Created by Dallas Jenkins through his 5&2 Productions banner, The Chosen has evolved from a niche crowdfunded project to a franchise-scale operation with a self-reported audience of over 100 million viewers worldwide. Prime Video already carries all four previous seasons, along with the official Chosen website, which continues to serve as a digital home base for its global fanbase.
But Jenkins isn’t just teeing up the endgame for Jesus—he’s building an extended universe around him. In addition to two more seasons planned beyond The Last Supper, the franchise is spinning out several new projects: an animated entry titled The Chosen Adventures, a Bear Grylls hybrid format dubbed The Chosen in the Wild, and three scripted dramas—a Moses origin series, a limited series about Joseph, and a Paul-focused sequel set after the core storyline.
With the streaming launch now locked, The Chosen shifts into franchise mode, aiming to deepen its footprint across platforms and genres, from animation to docu-reality and serialized drama.
