All aboard for a festive float down the river! Susan Calman returns with a new season of “Christmas Cruising,” and this year, she’s setting her sights on the enchanting Christmas markets of Germany. Premiering this Friday, December 27, at 8 PM on Channel 5, the episode follows Calman’s journey along the Main and Rhine rivers, stopping at various festive ports of call.
From Nuremberg’s traditional Christmas village (complete with a wish-making fountain and Ferris wheel) to Bamberg’s unique Christmas-flavored smoked beer (because who needs eggnog?), Calman immerses herself in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the season. In Rothenburg, she’ll indulge her inner child (and expand her nutcracker collection) at the Christmas Museum and a year-round Christmas shop.
But the festive fun isn’t limited to shore excursions. Onboard the ship, Calman will participate in a gingerbread house decorating competition, presumably with varying degrees of success. And, in Miltenberg, she’ll even try her hand at playing the town’s 17th-century church organ. One can only hope the carol selection isn’t too ambitious.
The cruise concludes in Cologne, home to not one, not two, but three Christmas markets, ensuring a truly immersive finale to Calman’s festive voyage. So, this Friday at 8 PM, tune in to Channel 5 and join Susan Calman for a vicarious dose of Christmas cheer. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a long day of dealing with your own family’s holiday shenanigans.
