Christmas In Scotland GAF Movie Premiere, Saturday, December 21

Christmas in Scotland Key Art

GAF’s latest holiday offering, Christmas In Scotland, seems determined to deliver a hefty dose of festive cheer with a side of romantic entanglement. The premise is familiar: Big-city designer, small-town charm, a dash of Scrooge-like resistance, and a whole lot of twinkling lights.

Jill Winternitz stars as the New York designer tasked with illuminating the quaint (and fictitious) Scottish village of Glencarrick for the coveted “Best Christmas Village” competition. Her arrival, however, isn’t met with universal warmth. Enter Dominic Watters as the wealthy, Christmas-averse heir who apparently holds the village’s festive spirit hostage. He seems allergic to tinsel, possibly due to some undisclosed holiday trauma – which, I’m sure, we’ll learn all about in due time.

Naturally, these two clash. She’s all about embracing the joy of the season, he’s the Grinch in a kilt. But as they work together, could their frosty dynamic thaw into something… warmer? Let’s just say I’ve seen enough holiday movies to know where this is heading.

Christmas in Scotland aims to provide a heartwarming escape with its picturesque setting and predictable plot. Will Winternitz’s character manage to melt Watters’s icy heart and transform Glencarrick into a winter wonderland? Will their forced proximity lead to romantic sparks? Frankly, the only real mystery here is how many times we’ll see a shot of a horse-drawn carriage traversing a snow-covered bridge.
